šŸ‘€

True Goals

  • "I want to be a responsible animal owner who provides proper care and protection"

  • "I need a solution that shows I'm committed to the wellbeing of the animals I love"

Run-In Shed Applications

Versatile structures for various livestock scenarios and farm operations

Horse Shelter

Perfect for pasture horses, turnout shelters, breeding mares, foaling areas, and retired horses. The open-front design provides protection from flies, sun, rain, and wind while allowing natural herd behavior. Horses can enter and exit freely, reducing stress and promoting healthy socialization. Add interior stalls for foaling season or to separate horses during feeding and veterinary care.

Cattle & Large Livestock

Ideal for beef cattle, dairy cattle during turnout, calving pens, and feed storage. The sturdy construction withstands rubbing and leaning behavior typical of cattle. Wind protection and shade help maintain healthy weight gain and reduce cold stress during winter months. Larger width options (12' wide) accommodate multiple cattle comfortably with proper ventilation.

Small Livestock & Multi-Purpose

Excellent for goats, sheep, alpacas, llamas, donkeys, and miniature horses. The versatile design works for kidding pens, shearing areas, or general herd shelter. Can double as equipment storage, hay storage with proper ventilation, or combined livestock and tack space. Smaller sizes (6Ɨ8 to 10Ɨ12) work well for compact properties with limited space.

Equine Property Management

Perfect for horse boarding facilities, riding schools, therapeutic riding programs, and trail riding operations. The professional appearance enhances property value while providing client peace of mind. Multiple stall configurations allow flexible management of lesson horses, boarders, or breeding stock. Combined with tack rooms for efficient barn operations.

Built for Farm Life: Construction & Materials

Amish craftsmanship meets livestock-specific design requirements

Weather-Resistant Framework

Constructed with pressure-treated lumber rated for ground contact and outdoor exposure. Heavy-duty pressure-treated 4Ɨ6 skids provide long-lasting foundation stability without concrete footings. Reinforced framing at 16" on center supports snow loads and daily farm use. All structural components use corrosion-resistant fasteners and galvanized hardware to prevent rust and degradation over decades of service.

Premium Wood Siding Options

LP SmartSide panels with SmartGuard technology resist rot, moisture, and insect damage with a 50-year warranty. Installed over 2Ɨ4 wall framing at 16" on center for superior strength. Pine Board & Batten offers traditional rustic barn appeal with additional 2' on center horizontal framing for classic durability. Both siding options are horse-safe materials that resist chewing—no vinyl siding that horses can damage or ingest.

Roofing & Ventilation

Asphalt shingles provide weatherproof, impact-resistant protection in base package (20-30 year lifespan). Optional metal roofing upgrade offers 40-50 year durability with superior snow shedding and weather resistance. The open-front design ensures natural airflow that reduces moisture accumulation and ammonia buildup—critical for preventing respiratory issues in horses and livestock. Proper ventilation maintains healthy environment year-round.

Flexible Stall Layouts

Customize interior divisions for your specific livestock management needs

Run-In Sheds 20 feet or longer can be divided into individual stalls with dividers and 4-foot Dutch doors for flexible livestock management. Stall divisions are ideal when you need to separate animals during feeding time (prevents aggression and food competition), isolate horses for veterinary care or quarantine, create dedicated foaling stalls for pregnant mares, or manage aggressive horses that require individual space.

Standard Stall Configurations

  • 20-28 ft:Two stalls (10-14 ft per stall) — Example: 10Ɨ24 = Two 10Ɨ12 stalls
  • 30-38 ft:Three stalls (10-12.67 ft per stall) — Example: 10Ɨ30 = Three 10Ɨ10 stalls
  • 40-48 ft:Four stalls (10-12 ft per stall) — Example: 10Ɨ40 = Four 10Ɨ10 stalls

✨Custom Layout Flexibility

Not limited to equal divisions! We can customize stall sizes based on your specific needs. For example, a 10Ɨ30 shed can be configured as:

  • • Three 10Ɨ10 stalls (standard equal division)
  • • Two stalls: 10Ɨ12 + 10Ɨ18 (smaller stall for pony, larger for warmblood)
  • • One 10Ɨ14 stall + one 10Ɨ16 stall (unequal but functional)
  • • Two 10Ɨ10 stalls + one 10Ɨ10 tack room (combined storage and shelter)

Perfect for accommodating horses of different sizes, adding dedicated tack rooms, or creating foaling stalls with extra space. Contact us to discuss your custom stall layout requirements.

Dutch Door Benefits

Each stall can include a 4-foot Dutch door (divided horizontally). The top half opens independently for ventilation, visibility, and horse socialization while the bottom half keeps animals securely contained. This design allows feeding over the door to reduce waste, provides comfortable observation during foaling, and enables social interaction between stalled horses without physical contact. See Upgrade Options section for Dutch door pricing.

Choosing the Right Size

Select dimensions based on your livestock type, herd size, and property needs

Single Horse / Small Livestock

Sizes: 6Ɨ8, 8Ɨ8, 8Ɨ10, 8Ɨ12 work for one horse, 2-3 goats, or small livestock operations.

Compact footprint makes placement easier on smaller properties or paddocks. Ideal for miniature horses, single pasture horses, or backyard goat shelters. Cost-effective entry point for first-time livestock owners.

Two Horses / Medium Operations

Sizes: 10Ɨ20, 10Ɨ24, 12Ɨ24 accommodate two horses comfortably or 4-6 goats with room to move.

Can be divided into two individual stalls (10Ɨ10 to 12Ɨ12 per horse) with Dutch doors for separate feeding and management. Popular size for small breeding operations, companion horses, or growing herds. Balances functionality with affordability.

Multiple Horses / Large Herds

Sizes: 10Ɨ30, 10Ɨ40, 12Ɨ40, 12Ɨ48 for three or more horses, cattle herds, or large livestock operations.

Three to four stall configurations available with flexible layout options. Perfect for boarding facilities, riding schools, breeding farms, or properties with multiple animals. Allows combination of stalls and tack room space for efficient barn management.

šŸ“Planning Considerations

  • Square footage per horse: General guideline of 100-150 square feet provides comfortable space (10Ɨ12 = 120 sq ft works well for average horse)
  • Stall depth: Plan for 10-12 feet of length per stall for horses to turn around and lie down comfortably
  • Width selection: 10' width works for average horses and most livestock. Choose 12' width for draft horses, large warmbloods, cattle, or when you want extra interior space
  • Future expansion: Consider starting with a larger shed than currently needed to accommodate herd growth, breeding operations, or adding tack room space later

Concrete Piers (Preferred)

Professional concrete pier foundation - optimal for livestock shelter structures

  • Superior drainage for animal health
  • Maximum structural stability
  • Prevents settling under livestock weight
  • Long-term durability

Stone Foundation

Level stone base with treated lumber border - suitable for most run-in shed applications

  • Good drainage properties
  • Natural temperature regulation
  • Cost-effective solution
  • Handles livestock traffic well

Gravel Base (Minimum)

Compacted gravel foundation - minimum requirement for run-in shed placement

  • Basic drainage provision
  • Most economical option
  • Quick installation
  • Suitable for temporary setups

Professional Foundation and Installation Services Available
