Setbacks vary widely — 5 to 25 feet from property lines depending on your county and zoning district. HOAs can add their own restrictions on top of county rules.

Foundation & Delivery Notes
Maryland's frost line is 30 inches — slightly shallower than PA. For sheds and smaller garages, a level gravel pad works great. Larger garages and two-story structures may need a concrete slab or poured footers, depending on your county.
