Frequently asked.

How long does it take to build a custom garage?

Most custom garages ship in 6–10 weeks from approved specs and deposit. Smaller workshop garages and dormer single-bays land closer to 6 weeks; modular and two-story builds run 8–10. Modular delivery + on-site assembly is typically the fastest route from order to "rolling the truck in." We give you a firm window in writing with your quote.

What’s the difference between modular and portable garages?

A portable garage is built fully assembled at our shop and delivered as one piece on a low-profile mule trailer — cap is roughly 14×40 (limited by what we can legally roll down the road). A modular garage is built in 2–3 sections at our shop, then trucked to your site and bolted together on the prepared pad. Modular lets us go bigger (up to 28×48) and reach sites that a single-piece delivery can’t. Same craftsmanship either way — the choice is about size and access, not quality.

Do I need a concrete slab, or can I use gravel?

A gravel pad works for portable single-piece garages up to 14×28. For larger garages — anything modular, two-story, or 16× wider — we strongly recommend a poured concrete slab with thickened edges and a vapor barrier. Concrete also opens up future options (in-floor drains, vehicle lifts, finished interior floor) and is what most townships expect for permits. We send a slab spec drawing with your order so your concrete contractor knows exactly what to pour.

What overhead doors and openers come standard?

Standard is a steel raised-panel insulated overhead door (Clopay or Amarr depending on availability) sized to your garage — typically 9×7 for single bays and 16×7 for two-car. Walk-through doors are a 36" insulated steel door with deadbolt. Openers are an upgrade — most customers prefer to source/install their own opener (Chamberlain or LiftMaster) once the garage is on-site, but we can include and pre-wire one if you want it done as part of the build.
