Need On-Site Construction?

All standard sheds & garages up to 14′ wide are delivered fully assembled and placed with our Shed Mule. The Mule fits through most gate openings, but the building needs to clear every fence, gate, and passage — you need at least 2′ wider than the structure. If the building won’t fit through your gate, you can remove a fence section or go with an on-site build (30% surcharge). The Mule also can’t handle very steep hills or heavy mud.

Classic Workshop questions

What buyers ask about the Classic Workshop.

Sizing, door clearance, delivery, permits — the stuff that comes up when folks are deciding on a classic workshop. If your question isn’t here, give us a call or text.

Should I pick the Classic Workshop over the standard Workshop?

Pick the Classic Workshop when the building will be visible from the house, driveway, or street and you want it to look like a permanent outbuilding rather than a utility shed. The Classic adds 1×6 Miratec fascia, 1×3 corner trim, wider gable overhangs, and Classic vents — same Workshop bones with a noticeably sharper exterior. Functionally identical to the standard Workshop, so the upgrade is purely cosmetic. If your building is tucked behind the garage or at the back of the property, the standard Workshop saves you $700–$1,100 and works just as hard.

Can the Classic Workshop be finished into a backyard office?

It can be converted — the A-Frame sidewalls (6’4″ on 6’–8’ wide models, 6’8″ on 10’–14’ wide) give you full stud bays for insulation and room to run electrical — but the Classic Workshop is still a storage/workshop building at heart. You’d be paying for the conversion work (insulation, drywall, flooring, electrical, mini-split HVAC — typically $6K–$12K) on top of a structure that wasn’t purpose-built for it. If a finished office is your primary goal, check out our Studio Shed or Office Shed — they’re designed from the ground up for that use case with insulation-ready walls, wired-for-electric framing, and a modern aesthetic. The Classic Workshop makes more sense when it’s primarily a workshop or storage building that you might occasionally use as a flex space.

What’s the most popular Classic Workshop size?

12×20 (starting at $6,505 in LP SmartSide) is the bestseller — it’s big enough for a full workbench, a table saw outfeed, and wall-hung tool storage with room to move. 12×16 ($5,885) works for lighter-duty storage where you still want the upgraded curb appeal. For a dedicated two-zone layout (tools on one side, project staging on the other), customers typically step up to 14×20 or 14×24. The Classic trim really shines at 12×16 and above — below that, the wider overhangs can look slightly oversized for the footprint.

Can I add windows wherever I want on a Classic Workshop?

Yes — spec your window placement on the contact form and we’ll frame the openings before delivery. Most customers go with 2 or 3 standard 24×36" or 30×40" double-pane vinyl windows on the long sidewalls plus a transom or two on the gable end if they want morning light. We can also frame in a sliding glass door or French doors for buyers who want indoor/outdoor flow. Cutting windows after delivery is technically possible but adds cost and risks the warranty — always better to spec at order time.

Is the Classic Workshop delivered fully assembled?

Yes — every Classic Workshop up to 14′ wide is built fully assembled at our Parkesburg, PA shop and delivered on a specialized trailer. Widths up to 12′ ship on a standard trailer at $5/mi. 14-wide Classic Workshops can also be delivered fully assembled — we handle the road permit and pilot car ($7.50/mi one-way). Your access path needs to be at least 2 feet wider than the building. The Shed Mule fits through most gate openings, but the building must clear every fence and passage — if it won’t fit, you can remove a fence section or go with an on-site build (30% surcharge). The Mule also can’t handle very steep hills or heavy mud.

Do I need a permit for a Classic Workshop?

For pure storage/workshop use under 200 sq ft (8×24 or smaller), most townships in PA, NJ, DE, and MD don’t require a permit — setbacks still apply. Anything 12×20 and larger usually needs a zoning permit. If you plan to add electrical, insulation, or use the building as habitable space (home office, studio, guest room), that triggers a residential building permit and inspection regardless of square footage. Check both your township and HOA before ordering.

Ordered a 10×16 Quaker on a Tuesday, delivered the following Monday. Crew was professional and the shed looks better in person than in the photos.

Value

My Classic shed was $2,000 less than a similar model at the big-box store — and it’s built ten times better. LP SmartSide, real 2×4 framing, architectural shingles. No comparison.

Craftsmanship

You can tell this is Amish-built the moment you walk inside. Framing, floor, trim — everything is straight and square. Worth every penny.
